The Australian Communication Exchange is providing grants of up to $20,000 to support events or projects that’ll benefit the Australian Deaf community and Australians with a speech, communication or hearing impairment.

Emerging Issues Funding
Dept of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) is providing funding of up to $200 000 for individual projects which are normally completed within two years responding to significant issues that arise outside the annual funding round. The funding supports larger scale projects that strengthen social cohesion, community harmony and cross cultural understanding.
Anna Wearne Memorial Trust Grants
The Anna Wearne Memorial Trust provides funding of $50 to $1,000 to create opportunities for young people to reach their potential, where such potential is hampered due to disadvantage or inequality.

National Disability Coordination Officer: Your Own Path to Success
Your Own Path to Success, is a short video of about 4 mins duration. It aims to raise awareness of the wide scope of disability, and that you do not need to have an obvious or significant disability in order to seek support and assistance to achieve Your Own Path To Success. It introduces the supports and assistance that may be available to assist people who have a disability to participate actively in their community, particularly in education and employment.
It’s Tax Time!
So here are some useful tips:
• Remember to lodge your tax return by 31 October 2010
• The quickest and easiest way to lodge is online through the ATO’s e-tax service
• e-tax is free and secure, with built-in checks and calculators to help you get it right
• Remember that the ATO never sends emails asking people to provide their tax file number or other personal or financial information.

Same old political discourse not good enough for young voters: Youth discontent with mainstream media coverage at an all time high. When it comes to Australia’s youngest voters, the majority of media coverage this election completely missed the mark. And if you ask Gen Y, it is clear where the problem lies. Young people increasingly express the sentiment that the issues most important to them are being ignored by the politicians in Canberra, and this election more than ever, they expressed their discontent at the ballot box. While fervent electoral analysis is sure to go on for many weeks to come, it is clear from talking to Australia’s youth that they feel abandoned by not only the major parties, but also by mainstream media.
Heywire 2010 Open for Entries!
The ABC’s Heywire competition gives people aged 16–22 in rural and regional Australia a chance to ‘tell it like it is’ on the ABC. All they have to do is submit a story about life in their neck of the woods, or an issue in their community. Their story might be about something they’d like to see change in their town, or an incident or issue that has had an impact on them, or simply why they like living where they do. Stories can be in text, audio, photo or video formats.

Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC): National Director Position

ICRC Geneva: Young Reporter Initiative
In an effort to give young people a stronger voice concerning today’s most pressing humanitarian issues – from mass displacement caused by war to the lifelong and devastating impact of landmines – the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is launching a global “young reporter” competition, aimed at enabling people between the ages of 18 and 25 to better understand how violence affects young lives and share their views on armed conflict with others. The “young reporter” initiative coincides with the International Year of Youth, which started on 12 August.

Youth Challenge Australia: Indigenous Youth Leadership Program
