Do sport and leisure programs offer a way to deliver improved educational outcomes for Indigenous children and youth? The answer is yes. Indigenous students benefit from their participation in sport and leisure programs in a number of ways, according to an evaluation of the National Sporting Chance Program.

However, the evaluation report which was undertaken by the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER) in late 2011, has also found that there still remains scope for further improvement. Youth Employment – What’s Working? Have your say!

Published on May 9th 2012 - Filed under: General Business

Youth employment is now a priority in most regions of the world. There is growing focus and investment on youth employment programs, but at the moment there is limited evidence on what works, which leads to low impact and wasted resources. With this in mind, the Youth Employment Network (YEN) and the ILO’s Youth Employment Programme (YEP) have partnered up to create the “What’s Working?” competition to find out what strategies and approaches are working and share them among the youth employment community.

The competition is open to anyone working on a youth employment project in any country, it is free to enter and the application is online. If you have a project or initiative that you feel is working and getting results, why not let the global community know about it! Deadline for submissions is 20 May, 2012.
