Domestic violence in Australia: an overview of the issues 2011
This paper was produced by Liesl Mitchell from the Social Policy Section of the Department of Parliamentary Services. It includes an overview of research on the prevalence of domestic violence, attitudes and risk factors, at risk groups and communities and the costs of domestic violence to communities and to the economy. It also covers policy approaches designed to prevent domestic violence, a survey of current Australian Government programs and initiatives and a review of future directions in domestic violence prevention. Appendix A contains links to sources of further information on domestic violence in the NT and across Australia.

2012 FAST Program Katherine – Can you Assist?
The purpose of High School FAST is to enhance protective factors in High School youth and their families. These protective factors, as identified in research, build resistance against school failure, substance abuse, or other risk factors faced by youth and families. The FAST program in Katherine will be coordinated by the YMCA of Katherine 1 night a week over an 8 week period in early 2012 with support and training provided by FAST NT. The YMCA is now seeking expressions of interest from people willing to assist with the delivery of the program.
Our Lives Project – Request for Service Provider Support
The Youth Health team at the Menzies School of Health Research is currently working on a new project examining the health and wellbeing of young people and their relationship, titled “Our Lives-culture, context and risk”. This project involves young people from the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia aged 16-25. The Youth Health team have approached NTYAN to assist in the promotion of the research project.
