Waltja Tjutangku Palyapayi (WALTJA) has a full time permanent Vulnerable Groups Worker position available. The successful applicant will undertake emergency relief case work, data collection and remote project field trips with Aboriginal people and their families across the Central Desert region. Target groups will include but not be limited to people in emergency situations or financial crisis, young people ‘at risk’ and frail aged and disabled clients. The position aims to build the financial resilience of clients and working closely with regular clients and other services will be an important part of this position. Volunteers will participate in a number of community-based activities. Each day, volunteers meet at the projects’ head office, take part in daily discussions, and develop daily strategies and follow-up on the projects’ current plans. As the Care and Support Project’s primary aim is to offer basic needs to orphans and other vulnerable children. E.g. assist on a housing project, helping complete as well as protecting water sources etc.
