Youth Off The Streets 2012 Scholarship Program

The Youth Off The Streets National Scholarship Program celebrates the gifts and strengths of young people from the Australian community who exhibit extraordinary promise, but who lack the personal support networks and resources that will allow them to fulfil that potential. The initiative developed by Father Chris Riley, CEO and founder of Youth Off The Streets, provides financial and personal support for young people to pursue their dreams in any field, including, but not limited to - visual or performing arts; sport; trade skills; and music. Nominations can be made by the young person themselves, or on their behalf by a teacher, Youth Worker or other party involved in the young person’s life. The closing date for nominations is 5pm on 6 April 2012.

Calling Young ATSI People to get involved in Constitutional Recognition

This March, the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence (NCIE) will be hosting a three day Constitutional Recognition Forum for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. The Forum will provide young Indigenous Australians (aged 16-25) from across the country with an opportunity to come together to learn about Constitutional Recognition and develop a youth driven campaign. They would like to have each state and territory represented, and they need our support to promote this fantastic opportunity to the young ATSI people that the NTYAN work with and support.

Now Recruiting for Inspiring Young Indigenous Runners

The New York City Marathon is one of the toughest and biggest running events in the world, with 48,000 runners and 2.5 million spectators. The Indigenous Marathon Project team are seeking outstanding Indigenous men and women aged between 18 and 30, that have the commitment and ability to train for this endurance running event. They will be coached and supervised by Australian marathon champion, Rob de Castella, be required to attend a number of training camps around Australia during the year, and undertake a special Cert III in Community Recreation – Indigenous Health.

Compass ABC TV – Seeking Young People to Make a “Holy Switch”

Compass ABC TV is looking for 6 young people to make a “Holy Switch.” They are looking for young adults (18-23yrs) from around Australia, who are part of a family who puts faith at the heart of daily life. For two weeks (between March and May, 2012) these young people will take up the challenge to live a totally different life with a host family from another faith.

Come and Try Tennis - Darwin

Tennis NT welcomes school-aged kids (5-9 yrs) and teenagers (10 + years) to come and try tennis at the Darwin Waterfront this Sunday, 29 January, 2012 from 2pm – 5pm. The Come and Try Tennis event is a great opportunity for young people to learn a fun new sport. The event is FREE. Bring sunscreen, hat, bathers and towel to cool off afterwards in the Recreation Lagoon.

New Film Festival for Young People: Calling for Entries!

Film Workshops Touring in 2012

2012 Defence Indigenous Development Program (DIDP) NT

The DIDP provides young Indigenous adults with the education, training, life skills, confidence and opportunities to secure and sustain ongoing full time employment of their choice.
