2012 Defence Indigenous Development Program (DIDP) NT

Published on January 4th 2012 - Filed under: Youth Events and Opportunities

The DIDP provides young Indigenous adults with the education, training, life skills, confidence and opportunities to secure and sustain ongoing full time employment of their choice.

In 2012 the DIDP-NT intake will increase to 30 participants from all remote and regional areas of mainland Australia. Applications are now open for the 2012 DIDP program and completed applications are required by 10 Feb 2012.

If you have clients who want to join the program and can meet the entry requirements please let us know and we will email you an application pack.

Applications will be checked to confirm eligibility prior to any offer to attend the initial interviews and assessments so please work with your clients to ensure the applications are complete. Applications are detailed as DIDP training is done as Army Reserve service, an approved activity for Centrelink clients. All applicants must be 18 years of age or over by 9 Feb 2012.

Initial interviews and assessment for DIDP-NT will take place over two weeks from 20 Feb 2012 in Darwin. For that period transport, share accommodation and meals will be provided. The program for those two weeks will be structured to ensure that applicants have a good understanding of what will be required of them during the seven months of the DIDP.

Successful applicants will start training in Katherine in Apr 2012, with graduation in Nov 2012. There will be three periods of one week leave during the program when trainees will return to their home location.

To request an application pack, some hard copy information brochures, or for any further information about the DIDP, please email info@didp.com.au or call 1800 447 827.
