Budd:e Cyber Security Education
Budd:e (Secondary) has been developed for Australian secondary schools, specifically for Years 7 and 8. Budd:e is an educational and interactive tool about the risks people take by going online, and the possible consequences of those risks. It also educates about the technical and behavioural measures we can all use, to help reduce our risk, and bolster online security. Security for people, for internet devices, and for personal data.
Budd:e (Secondary) includes a GAME, VIDEOS, and FAQ. Budd:e also contains a fun reward system, an interactive STUDIO where the student may customise a ‘budd:e’ as a reward for demonstrating good cybersecurity practice and online conduct.
Central to the module is a GAME that simulates the online world, complete with cybersecurity threats and negative events. Students will choose a response to each event from a range of possible actions, and good choices will earn valuable credits that may be used to buy Budd:e parts and accessories.
To inform their choices in the GAME, students may view the VIDEOS or consult the FAQ across a range of cybersafety and security topics. Student Budd:es may be posted to the all-schools Budd:e Wall of Fame for rating, or exported for sharing.
The instruction style is constructivist, so the student will learn by doing. They are required to make decisions, and may experiment with choices and consequences. Progress through the learning activity is guided by prompts and feedback.
