There are currently 1100 adults and young people in detention (145 are children). The Darwin Asylum Seekers Support and Advocacy Network (DASSAN) will be holding a visitor training session on Monday 6 February, 2012. They have many requests for visitors from people in detention, and very soon they will be facilitating visits at the Wickham Point Immigration Detention Centre.

A training session for new visitors will be held next Monday 6 February, 2012 from 6.30 - 8.30 (following the DASSAN meeting), at Melaleuca Refugee Centre.

The training will cover:

- Visiting processes

- looking after yourself and the people you are visiting

- Ongoing information and support

If you would like to attend or would like more information please contact Al or Tim, the Visitor Program Coordinators at dassanvisits@gmail.com
