Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect: What Primary Health Care Practitioners Need to Know
The Centre for Remote Health (a joint Centre of Flinders University & Charles Darwin University) will be offering FREE two day workshops to NT health professionals, and others working in health care settings, whose work brings them into contact with children and young people. The courses, which are funded by the Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH), will be offered in Alice Springs, Darwin, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Tennant Creek in the first 6 months of 2012.
Overview:
Health and other professionals frequently experience complex ethical and professional dilemmas when forming an opinion about child abuse and neglect. This course is specifically designed for professionals who work in remote clinical practice and in regional primary health care services in the Northern Territory.
Who Should Attend?
Doctors, Remote Area Nurses, Midwives, Allied Health Professionals, Aboriginal Health Workers, Pharmacists, Managers, Support Staff & Community Workers employed in primary health care settings, whose work brings them into contact with children & young people.
Dates:
- Alice Springs: March 12 – 13 (Monday – Tuesday)
- Darwin: April 18 – 19 (Wednesday – Thursday)
- Katherine: April 23 – 24 (Monday – Tuesday)
- Nhulunbuy: May 9 – 10 (Wednesday – Thursday)
- Tennant Creek: June 5 – 6 (Tuesday – Wednesday)
Duration & Cost of Course:
This is a FREE 2 day workshop, funded by the Office for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH), but registration is essential.
